TUFPORT - MTC - LATERAL COMPRESSION TEST
We didn’t just ace the test, we asked for a bigger challenge.
Tufport is the only proactive company in the Mobile Treatment Center (MTC) industry, pushing safety thresholds higher through independent testing that goes beyond the status quo.
Relying on old technology isn’t worth the gamble. In the same way automotive safety features (everything from seat belts and airbags to anti-lock breaking systems) have evolved, MTCs must continue to incorporate new technologies in order to keep people safe in the field and on our roads.
All ambulances produced in North America must meet specific structural strength requirements designed to protect patients and staff in the event of a roll-over. Tufport MTCs, however, exceed even the most stringent Canadian requirements -- currently the province of Alberta’s standard -- for side load compression.
The side-load compression test is just one of a battery of tests that Tufport MTCs undergo. Yet, because of the high number of roll overs in the field, it’s one of the most crucial.
As you know, most accidents involving MTCs result in the vehicle landing on its side.
During our side compression tests, loads were applied with hydraulic cylinders. To pass the standard test, our MTC needed to support a load of 50-percent of 2.5 times an unloaded vehicle’s weight, for ten seconds. We used the Dodge Ram 3500, the heaviest pickup on the market
(8,596 lbs when equipped with our MTC), as our standard, easily passing the test with no damage to our unit.
But that wasn’t good enough. We wanted to go further. Tufport’s newest MTCs are setting the standard by supporting an unprecedented load of
13,680 pounds (9,124 Kg’s) in testing performed by a licensed, qualified, third party engineer.
Our newest unit passed the advanced test completely unscathed and, while under load, the rear door opened and closed normally.
NO OTHER MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER MEETS THIS SAFETY STANDARD. WHY?
THE ANSWER IS IN OUR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.
Tufport Medical Mobile Treatment Centers are two piece, molded composite units bonded together with a structural adhesive. Other MTCs are constructed with a long list of parts and pieces held together with nails, screws, staples and moulding.
Our composite MTCs, complete with steel rollover protection structures, maintain their structural integrity during a roll over because they are solid from the start.
There are no short-cuts to your peace of mind. Settling for less than the best MTC on the market means taking unnecessary risks every day.
Maximize the protection of your staff and those they care for by providing them with a Tufport MTC, by far the safest Medical Mobile Treatment Center available today.
